Provide efficient service delivery from settlement planning and land use management through team work and public participation.

MISSION

The Physical Planning Department’s mission statement at the national level is to plan, control and ensure the harmonious, sustainable and cost-effective development of human settlements in accordance with sound environmental and planning principles. However, at the district level ours is to ensure and promote orderly physical growth and development of all categories of human settlements in the District.

MAIN FUNCTIONS AT THE DISTRICT LEVEL.

• Preparation of land use plans and providing technical advice for healthy and orderly growth and development of human settlement in the District.
• Assisting District Assembly to formulate and implement policies on human settlement.
• Coordination of diverse physical developments promoted by departments, agencies of government and private developers.
• Administration of land use management procedures in settlement planning and day to day physical development into efficient forms and sound environmental place of residence, work and recreation.
• Processing of development\building permit application documents for consideration by statutory planning committee.
• Providing diverse forms of planning service to other public institutions, boards, corporation and private developers.
• Purpose of securing the highest level of aesthetics, health, efficiency and others in the built environment.
• Providing a spatial framework and strategies for the integration of socio-economic and development of urban and rural areas.
• Conducting public education and awareness on town planning
