39TH FARMERS’ DAY HONOURED IN ATWIMA NWABIAGYA NORTH DISTRICT, BAREKESE

The Atwima Nwabiagya North District in the Ashanti Region has partook in the 39th National Farmers’ Day on Friday, December 1, 2023 at the Barekese Methodist Primary School premises.

The event which was dubbed “Delivering Smart Solutions For Sustainable Food Security And Resilience” brought together, the District Chief Executive (DCE)- Hon. Rebecca Yeboah, Presiding Member (PM)/ Assembly member for Achiase Electoral Area – Hon. Isaac Ohemeng Prempeh, District Coordinating Director, Mr S.M Abdul-Rahman farmers, Assembly Members, District Staffs, District Commander (Bohyen) – ASP Frank Kpei and Team, Nana Amoapim Brenya I and his entourage, Zongo Chief – Issaka Amadu Ramadan and compatriots, Queen mothers of the Barekese Traditional Council, Religious Leaders, Chief Imam Hassan Iddrusu, Representative of the Education and Health Directorates, Political Parties, and onlookers.

In her address the DCE eulogised farmers for their hard work. she pointed out the tireless efforts farmers had to undergo in other to have farm produce for the country and themselves as well.

She was grateful to the Almighty God for offering the government an abundance of rainfall since it took office. That she said has made farmers overjoyed with their business.

Hon. Yeboah pointed out benefits the government has made farmers enjoyed during its tenure. Some she said was on fertilizers, palm, rice and other seedlings benefiting over hundreds of farmers in the district, farm inputs such were; cutlasses, Wallington boots, chemicals and so much the government has poured on farmers over the years it took office and her regime as DCE.

The Hon. called on youths and other crannies to venture into farming and desist from the desire of “white coloured job” since the farming industry has become more lucrative and luxurious. She raised implemented policies such as Planting For Food and Job (PFJ), Planting for export and rural development (PERD), and all other farming intervention has yield greater impacts and hoped youth entering into farming will be no exception.

She admonished the singularity to group in farming. She was optimistic being in association would make them benefit from banks, NGOs, governments and other able stakeholders’ support.

The DCE advised farmers far and near to reach out to the Agric officers and make their office more visiting as their expertise is incomparable.

Ending her address, praised the government, Nananom, farmers, staffs and her community for being with her and asked them to continually be her backbone.

As the norm presents, Mr Salifu Mohammed from Barekese who has been in farming for over 30 with hundreds of livestock and acre of farmlands was adjudged the 2023 District Best Farmer. He was awarded with a certificate, a tricycle, cloth, wallington boots, fertilizer, farm inputs, and others.

After receiving the Best Farmer’s sword, Mr Salifu expressed his gratitude to Allah, the District, Nananom, His family, friends, and everyone who played a role in his success at that moment.

Nana Amoapim Brenya I, Barekesehene and Chairman for the event was overwhelmed and entreated the young as well as the graduates to delve into agriculture for betterment of the economy, country and their livelihood.

Farmers who were interviewed, expressed gratitude to all and sundry.

ATWIMA NWABIAGYA NORTH DISTRICT HOLDS POST-DEPAT EVALUATION SESSION

The Atwima Nwabiagya North District has geared up the staff of the District Assembly during a Post-Depat evaluation meeting.

The evaluation meeting which was chaired by the District Coordinating Director was held among the Heads of the Department/Unit at DCD’s office on the 13th July 2022.

During the engagement, the District Coordinating Director, Mr S.M Abdul-Rahman advised heads to eschew any incorrigible behavior and embrace togetherness.

He urged colleagues of the administration to accord one another whilst holding each other in a high esteem manner.

On the floor of Post-Depat, heads expressed gratitude to the District Chief Executive, Hon Rebecca Yeboah and the DCD, Mr S.M Abdul-Rahman for their administrative deeds and asked management to adhere to what’s been recommended.

2022 Regional Composite Budget hearing was hosted in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District.

The hearing session was made on the 14th of October, 2021 at the Assembly’s Conference Hall.

Such a great event brought together Officials from the Regional Coordinating Council, Officials from the Accra Ministry of Finance, MMDCES, Coordinating Directors, and everyone who has a role to play in the event.

The grouping of the whole program brought together Three MMDCEs namely; Offinso North District Assembly, Offinso Municipal, and Atwima Nwabiagya North District (the host nation) to present their budget before the house for finality.

The performance of the participants were exceptionally appreciated.

The teams marveled at the officials present and acknowledged whatever suggestions were made for the success of the budget hearing.

STAFF OF ATWIMA NWABIAGYA NORTH DISTRICT ASSEMBLY (ANNDA) TRAINED ON LOCAL GOVERNMENT SERVICE PROTOCOLS

The Atwima Nwabiagya North District Assembly through its HR department organized a workshop aimed at enhancing staff’s knowledge in local government service protocols.

In a long-hour training which took place at the Assembly’s conference room brought together various heads of Departments and staffs within the assembly.

The consultant, GEOWILSON Consult took staff through various protocols of the service and also adviced staff to make good use of the outcome of the training.

Atwima Nwabiagya North DCE Disburses Items to PWD’s

The Atwima Nwabiagya North DCE, Hon. Rebecca Yeboah has disburse life supporting items to persons with disabilities (PWD’S), which was funded by district assembly Common fund.

Hon. Rebecca Yeboah, noted that, previously the money was giving to them in cash, but they can’t use it for it purpose it was shared meaningfully.
According to her, the assembly decided to buy the items and shared to those in need, to enable cushion their life hence this valuable items.


Hon.Benito Owusu Bio, the MP for Atwima Nwabiagya North Constituency, was at the faction to commission school block at Fufuo Community, he explained the motive behind the project.

The PWDs who received the items shared their excitement after the occasion.

ASUOFUA POLYCLINIC TO GET ULTRAMODERN WARD

On Tuesday March 2, 2021, the DCE for Atwima Nwabiagya North,Hon. Rebecca Yeboah, and the MP, Hon. Benito Owusu-Bio were joined by traditional leaders, and the District Director for Ghana Health Services to break the ground for the construction of a modern general ward at Asuofua Polyclinic.

The project is funded through the District’s share of District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), and is expected to be completed in 12 months, all things being equal.

ATWIMA NWABIAGYA NORTH DISTRICT ASSEMBLY DONATES TO FIRE VICTIMS

The Atwima Nwabiagya North District Assembly ( ANNDA ) through the National  Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) office has donated items such as mattresses, rice, and cooking oil to fire victims at Achiase near Asuofua in the District.
The items were presented to the victims by Mr J T Kwapong, District NADMO Director and Hon. Isaac Ohemeng Prempeh, Presiding Member and the Assembly member of the Area.
A 49- year old former pastor of Assemblies of God, Emmanuel Amegah, around 11:00pm on Sunday January 26, 2020 set himself ablaze and raze a five bedroom house which accommodates himself, parents, and siblings.
Emmanuel Amegah, according to her younger sister Selina has for sometime now shown signs of mental illness, but she stated,  he was still cooperating until he did the unthinkable that night .
She narrated to the Information Services Department  (ISD ) that, she saw a flame in the night around 10:50 pm through his windows when she was about to sleep, and step out  from her room curiously, only to see Emmanuel set the house ablaze.
Upon a loud shout for help from neighbours, Emmanuel ran into one of the room to hide himself. The inferno got him stuck in the room, and go burnt beyond recognition.
The body of the deceased has since been deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital morgue pending autopsy.
Meanwhile, his younger sister Aku, and mother are also  receiving medical treatment at the same health facility after being traumatised by the calamity.
A 94 year old father of Emmanuel Amegah, Efo Amegah receiving the items thanked the District Assembly for responding swiftly to their plight and appealed to the public to come to their aid.

CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) : ATWIMA NWABIAGYA NORTH DISTRICT INTENSIFIES PREVENTIVE MEASURES

In attempt to mitigate occurrence of the dreadful Coronavirus(COVID -19) in the District, Atwima Nwabiagya North District Assembly(ANNDA ) of the Ashanti has procure items to sanitise public who visit markets, lorry parks, police stations, hospitals, public offices and the court.

These items were provided in consonant with directive by the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development( MLG&RD) as part of measures by the government to curtail the spread of Coronavirus in the country.So far, 24 cases have been recorded in Ghana with one death.

The District Chief Executive for ANNDA, Hon. Rebecca Yeboah advised the public to make good use of items which include veronica backets, hand sanitizers, disposable tissues, soaps whiles observing the social distance in order to mitigate occurrence of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Everyone is at the risk to contract the COVID-19 virus, however, if you stay sanitary, and adhere strictly to precautionary measures by the Ghana Health Service, you will live healthy and strong “, the DCE advised.

Hon. Rebecca Yeboah was joined by the District Coordinating Director, Mr Kaleem Abdallah Adam, Mr Abdul -Salam Abdulai, District Environmental Health Analyst and some staff of the ANNDA to start distribution of the items at Barekese, Adankwame, and Asuofua on Monday February 23,2020.

ATWIMA NWABIAGYA NORTH DISTRICT SUPPORTS TWO SENIOR HIGH SCHOOLS WITH FURNITURE.

Atwima Nwabiagya North District Assembly ( ANNDA ) has provided about 300 mono desks to the Barekese Senior High School and Osei Tutu Senior High School.

The two Senior High Schools are in the District,and are in dire need of furniture.

At a brief handing over event at Barekese on Friday May 8,2020,the District Chief Executive for the the ANNDA noted that the gesture was aimed to support quality education, and would encourage social distancing during classes period in the schools.

She promised that, ANNDA will procure additional sets of furniture for the two SHSs and other Basic Schools who are in dire need of furniture, and urged them to take good care of them, as they wait for more.

Mr Joseph Ampong, the Head of Monitoring and Evaluation at Ghana Education in the District who received the furniture on behalf of District Director of Education, thanked the DCE in particular, and the Assembly for responding swiftly to the plight of the schools.

He hinted that, the free SHS policy had increased enrolment in the SHSs, and lack of furniture had been the cry of school authorities.

He advised the headmasters of schools to make good use of the furniture, and maintain them in order to prolong their use.

Messrs Asare Yeboah and Michael Manu Antwi, Headmasters of Osei Tutu SHS and Barekese SHS respectively, were presented at the event to receive the furniture on behalf
of their schools.

With the DCE at the handing over event were Mr Kaleem Abdallah Adam, District Coordinating Director, Mr Daniel Donyinah, District Engineer, Mr Zackaria Antwi, District Procurement Officer ,and Mr Thomas Awuah Asem, District Information Officer.
